Leadership:
-Build connections with my peers outside the classroom (or library in this case)
I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job at establishing relationships and creating bonds with my peers (family) but I want to make more of an effort to see them outside of school. I’ve played tennis with Brendan, text Ana, gone to boba with Evan, and more. Every time I have conversations or go somewhere with someone in Leadership, I learn so much more about them. We’re able to talk about stuff and dive into things that we wouldn’t normally talk about during class. Everyone in Leadership is extremely important to me and I really want to build stronger/deeper friendships with everyone.
-Create inclusive and spirited rallies that the student body is excited for
This is obviously my goal since it’s my job description and that’s would I should be trying to accomplish. However, this position wasn’t just a way for me “to get in the program.” We’ve all seen the videos of super hyped high school rallies and I know that we can have that too. Our school has a real problem with lack of spirit and energy during rallies but with the right mindset, I know we could make some amazing memories.
Short Term:
-Get into a good university on an athletic or academic scholarship
This goal also comes with a bunch of mini goals or steps for me to reach it. I need good grades, school and club involvement, community service, good athletic seasons, and 24/7 training. It’s a lot of pressure and it’s a goal that I’ve been working really hard to achieve. I feel like I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices that people rarely seem to understand and I want it to pay off. It will pay off. I want to prove to everyone that doubted me and prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to.
-State
I really want to make it to State in track and cross country. It’s proof that I’m one of the best athletes in California and I want to challenge myself as much as possible. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am and dedicated so much of myself to running. I don’t want to settle and I don’t want to be average. I love the competition and I love the sport.
Long Term:
-Live in the suburbs with my husband, kids, dog, and white picket fence
There’s such a stigma around having an “average life.” I always see so-called motivational quotes or videos about not settling for a 9-5 job. How you should travel or posts about the “soul searching” they did in their G Wagon in Dubai. How they quit their jobs or dropped out of college and now they’re making millions and flying in their private jet. But you know what’s just as cool? Having a family. People that care about you and working on something that’s important to you. I genuinely want a job, I want to help people, find someone I love and marry them, have kids, and live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood.
-Travel
Although I want to live in the suburbs, I don’t want to live in a bubble. I would love to see the world and learn about new cultures. Traveling would help me learn more about myself and create memories and experiences that I couldn’t find at home.
