Developing professionalism in Leadership has helped me more than I thought. I knew it would help me in the future but it's helped me so much this year. It's helped me with confidence, public speaking, and presenting.
One thing I learned this year was how to present. For United we had to go to RC to present about the concert we were hosting. One of the RC reps designed a slide show and I had to go back and fix the majority of it. There were typos, none of the fonts were the same, too much information, and it clashed. I had figured that the basics of what we were learning were common sense but I guess they weren't. I was blown away by the lack of professionalism and h ow unprepared they were. Our presentations in class helped a lot, even though Hobbs destroyed a couple of our slides. Who would we be without some constructive criticism though?? Even on class you can tell which slides are the Leadership kids.
Another thing I learned this year was how to solve problems/roll with the punches. It's easy to get frustrated, zone out, and not try to help out when things get hard. Royce and I ran into a couple of problems during rallies (like K Club not communicating they weren't performing) but we figured it out and kept going. Even though it's supposed to be a "fun" position, we're given a job to do. As a professional, you have to stay calm and keep going when things get difficult.
